Pirates of the Caribbean: Opus 21 ; Jack/Elizabeth ; Drabble
Title: Opus 21.
Author: lieutenants
Characters: Jack Sparrow, Elizabeth Swann.
Genre: Drabble, introspection.
Rating: G.
Summary: Written for potc100's challenge, "letters." Inspired by Dustin O'Hallorann's instrumental piece of the same name. Enjoy!

The paper is the color of bad tea and heavy in her hand. Tooth pinches lip, heart folds in a ribcage. She pulls the letter apart, crease by crease, and holds it wide as one would hold a map. The words are drunken, sloping, the ink strokes as thin as the fingers that set them. A letter 'E' is smudged, as if struck in a tired gale by the careless whip of his hand.

At the end of the letter bent, quiet and misspelled:

'Com to me.'

She does not read it again.

The ink still stains the captain’s skin.

I guess the moral to that is, never write a love letter while drunk.
